About Us

More than 25 years ago, the pioneering Insurance Recovery and Counseling practice group at K&L Gates created the first insurance law treatise that focused specifically on the policyholder’s pro-coverage perspective. The Policyholder’s Guide to the Law of Insurance Coverage, which is regularly updated with developments in insurance coverage law, is now considered a vital resource for corporate insureds.

The Policyholder’s Guide embodies the steadfast dedication of our IRC practice to helping insureds. One of the treatise’s three original authors, James R. Segerdahl, remains involved as a partner in the IRC practice that he helped to build. In 2021, partner Lucas. J. Tanglen became the fourth co-author, confirming the group’s multi-generational commitment to continue its thought leadership and advocacy on behalf of policyholders into the future.

This blog—Insurance Law Watch: The Policyholder’s Guide—from the authors and many others who have contributed to the Policyholder’s Guide treatise, shares case law developments and insights regarding key insurance subjects. To learn more about our IRC practice, please click here or contact Michael S. Nelson or Sarah Turpin.

The Policyholder’s Guide treatise, published by Wolters Kluwer, is updated annually in both its hard copy and digital formats. Treatise subscriptions can be purchased here. For information about a discount offered for our blog readers by the publisher, please contact Lucas Tanglen.
